About Our Coalition

The Stop Torture RI Coalition is a statewide alliance of community organizers, formerly incarcerated people and their loved ones, direct service providers, students, and advocates united in the fight to end the use of prolonged solitary confinement through the passage of the Reform Solitary Confinement Act.

The coalition operates under the guidance of an elected Steering Committee, the majority of whom are survivors of solitary confinement, ensuring that the movement is led by those with direct, lived experience of the harms it seeks to end.

Steering Committee Members: Lawrence Joseph Benton, Sherry Brown, Eddie Franco, Elisha Liberty Hartmann, Nick Horton, Jackie Kennedy, and Trent Manning. Brandon Robinson supports the Coalition as a full-time Campaign & Policy Director.
